In a sad, developing story, Michael Philbin, the son of Green Bay Packers’ offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, is missing and may have drowned in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. [UPDATE: A body has been found. Police have identified it as Michael Philbin. He was 21.]
Divers began the search Sunday after an employee at Axletech called authorities around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, to report he thought he heard someone fall in the ice and call for help behind the business at 1005 High Ave.,said Sgt. Tim Eichman of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department.
Philbin was last heard from about 2 a.m. Sunday when he spoke with someone on his cell phone. He was reported missing at 8:15 p.m. Sunday. Police do not suspect foul play in the disappearance, Nichols said.
There’s a bit of a chilling note at the bottom of the story: “A Brown County judge sentenced Michael Philbin to six months in jail in 2009 after he was convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls and two counts of battery.” Joe Philibin’s Packers host the Giants Sunday at 4 pm in an NFC playoff game.
