If you’re interested, SpikeTV is counter-programming Saturday’s card with a Melvin Guillard marathon. If we ever needed proof that it was finally time for Guillard to drop the “young” from his nickname (“The Young Assassin”) then the fact that he’s been around long enough to build an entire marathon of programming around. Guillard and Jim Miller are both coming off loses to contenders and both are hopeful a win on cable television will put them back in the title mix. This is a tough fight to call since both guys were on long winning streaks before their most recent loss. That’s the bitch of the lightweight division. In almost any other division, two or three fights in a row and you’ve got a title shot. Lightweight is so stacked we’ve seen guys on streaks of 5 (Guillard), 7 (Miller) and 8 (George Sotiropoulos) not even get offered a title shot in the last two years. For lack of a better term, that shit cray.

I can’t go without mention Pat Barry and Christian Morecraft. This will probably end in a knockout. Barry is a colorful guy and a skilled striker and I hope he’s in the UFC permanently. Morecraft is 6’6″. If Barry would win a fight or two he wouldn’t have to fight these LeBron damn giants every time out.
