Miami was heavily involved in the Jeff Fisher drama until he chose the Rams, but may be just as well off with Philbin, who is loved within the Packers’ organization. Aaron Rodgers had this to say about Philbin (via Jason Wilde):

"“Joe’s very important to our success. The day-to-day stuff – all the coaching responsibilities he has, installing plays and explaining plays, his role in those meetings, the way that he helps get practice run the right way – he does a ton for us,” Rodgers said. “As players we probably don’t even see half the stuff he does to get us ready during the week. So we’re going to miss him, we really are.”"

The next question regarding Miami is the quarterback position, and you have to imagine that Stephen Ross and Jeff Ireland had discussions on this with Philbin. Will he be interested in bringing Matt Flynn, who he worked with for the last several years as Rodgers’ backup, to Miami to play quarterback?

Green Bay has also now lost a key front office member (Reggie McKenzie, to Oakland as General Manager) and a key member of the offensive staff in Joe Philbin. The Packers, despite this year’s disappointment in the postseason, are still poised to be contenders for the next several years. When you are successful, though, other teams come calling, and it will be interesting to see how the Packers do as they lose people due to their success.
