Alex Ovechkin received a 3-game suspension today for his hit to the head of Zbynek Michalek during Washington’s Sunday loss to Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Michalek somehow avoided the Shanahammer for his hit to the head of Washington’s Matt Hendricks just a few minutes later. Ovechkin was not sent to the penalty box for his hit, while Michalek was. According to the Washington Post, following the game Michalek complained that there was a caste system in the NHL. Apparently, Brendan Shanahan doesn’t pay attention to that social system.
