Just a short distance away in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Inquirer says that the Eagles will hire Miami interim coach Todd Bowles as defensive backs coach, and will retain Juan Castillo as defensive coordinator. Castillo, the long time offensive assistant, switched to defensive coordinator last year in a controversial move.

It was a disappointing season in Philadelphia, where several notable defensive free agent signings including Nnamdi Asomugha, Jason Babin, and Cullen Jenkins failed to result in the expected playoff appearance. The Eagles allowed 26.4 points per game in a disastrous 1-4 start to the season that put them chasing the rest of the way. The defense improved as the season went on, allowing only 17.4 points per game over the final 11, and Juan Castillo will get another chance as the Eagles look to rebound in 2012.
