LA Lakers 88, Boston 87, OT: They needed five extra minutes and a Pau Gasol block at the buzzer, but the Lakers have won four straight in Boston. The Gasol (25 points, 14 rebounds) and Bynum (17-16) tandem was too much inside, Kobe played well (27 points; though he was in full hero mode at the end, bricking bad shots), and Matt Barnes provided a lift off the bench (11 points). Hopefully, LA’s spent and the Knicks beat them tonight. After beating Boston, Kobe said he was unaware Linsanity was gripping the nation (fine, east coast). Mistake!

Denver 101, Golden State 109: Two weeks ago the Nuggets appeared to be a contender in the West, but now they’re falling apart and have lost five in a row. No Birdman, Gallo or Mozgov, Kenyon Martin is a Clipper and Wilson Chandler won’t arrive for a minute. Stephen Curry (13-of-17 shooting, 36 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, two blocks) was brilliant for the Warriors, who I think have an outside shot of getting to .500 (currently 9-14) by the All-Star break. Rookie Klay Thompson scored a career-high 19 points off the bench.

Houston 96, Phoenix 89: Olajuwon and Vernon Maxwell were too much defensively for Charles Barkley and Kevin Johnson and the Rockets are now 16-11, which is good for 4th best record in the West. “I have no idea what Channing Frye ate for lunch,” is some really weak announcing on this dunk.

Oklahoma City 101, Sacramento 106: Huge upset! Huge rally! Marcus Thornton made two late threes and after a long week on the road, the Thunder finally wilted. OKC wasted an 8-point lead with six minutes left. In defeat, Russell Westbrook scored 33 points including this mouth-watering dunk. Serge Ibaka swatted 10 shots, and this was the most impressive one.
