Phil Esposito, the New York Rangers and Alan Thicke Sing Hockey-Sock Rock

Alan Thicke had a talk show in Canada in the early 80’s. I had no idea. While researching yesterday’s post about O.J. Simpson and Alan Thicke, I stumbled upon this video. It’s Phil Esposito singing something called “Hockey-Sock Rock” on the Alan Thicke Show with Gil Gerard and The Unknown Comic.

And here is what I can only assume is the original version of the song as performed by Phil Esposito, Ron Duguay, Pat Hickey, Dave Maloney and John Davidson. This was created as a publicity tool for the Rangers in 1979. And you thought hockey had a rough go in the 21st century. Damn.
