Ward, a 6’2″ guard, was a transfer from the University of Texas. According to Robinson’s report, two games are in question. The first, a January 25th loss to Arkansas, involved Ward committing a turnover and then immediately leaving the game with an injury. The other game was on February 7th at home against Alabama, when Ward went 1 for 5 from the field with 6 turnovers, as the Tigers lost by 18 in a game where they were a 5 1/2 point home underdog.

Head coach Tony Barbee suspended Ward and another player, Chris Denson, for violation of team rules before the February 25th home game against Arkansas, but Denson was reinstated soon after. The coaching staff became aware of the issue when another player reported it to them, and Auburn then notified the FBI and the NCAA.
