The new era of The Ultimate Fighter starts tonight on FX. Dominic Cruz and Urijah Faber will be the coaches this season. When it’s all over, they’ll fight for Cruz’s bantamweight championship at UFC 148. Before that, they’ll watch 32 fighters compete to get inside the TUF house and then choose sides.
What makes this season so special is that we’re finally getting the fights live. The show starts at 9pm tonight and will feature 16 fights. Yes. There will 16 live fights on FX tonight. Each will be scheduled for
2 rounds 1 round. That’s like… 12 hours of fights! It would be kind of awesome if the first TUF Live event went until about 3am.
After tonight, the series will settle into a single live fight every Friday night to go along with an episode of The Ultimate Fighter. The UFC will also be debuting TUF Brazil in a few weeks which will air on FUELTV. More free and live UFC and a much-needed adjustment to the TUF brand. I’m excited to see how this works out.
