NCAA Tournament 2012: South Region, Instant Analysis

Top 4 seeds: Kentucky, Duke, Baylor, Indiana

Knee-jerk favorite: Let me think about this for a second . . . Kentucky

Double-digit seed capable of a run: We know VCU is dangerous, and that Wichita State matchup will be fantastic, but running through Wichita State and Indiana will be tough. I’ll go with Xavier having to beat Notre Dame then face Duke.

The committee screwed up: So much for the #1 overall seed getting a better road. Just like last year, when Ohio State was the top overall seed and got rewarded with Kentucky as the #4 in their region, Kentucky gets a 4/5 pairing of Indiana/Wichita State that will be difficult. Oh, and a potential second round game against the team that beat them in last year’s Final Four, which struggled at times, but has their coach back and a talented roster.

Knee jerk Regional Final guess: Kentucky versus Baylor
