Marques Colston, one of the better NFL free agent receivers, will stay in New Orleans and has inked a 5-year deal, according to Jay Glazer. The early reports are $40 million, with $19 million guaranteed.
The Saints used the franchise tag on Drew Brees and as a result risked losing Colston to free agency, but the receiver realized that his best chance for success was re-signing with the offense where he has thrived. This move also probably furthers the likelihood that Guard Carl Nicks is going elsewhere, which is not a surprise. Colston was the more likely of the two to stay in New Orleans.
