Report: NCAA Looking into Whether Fab Melo "didn't do some of the work"

Things Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim probably has on his mind right now, now that his shot-blocking center, Fab Melo, has been ruled ineligible:

* How are we going to rebound without Fab Melo around? We already suck at it!

* We went 2-1 without Melo earlier this season – one a blowout loss at Notre Dame, another a narrow win over Cincinnati (when the Bearcats were in the midst of a bad 3-game losing streak) and a controversial win over West Virginia at home.

* Vanderbilt is playing its best ball of the season. Ohio State has a bulldozer inside. How are we going to get out of this region?

* Am I going to lose one of my first two tournament games again? In the last 15 years, I‘ve been to the tournament 11 times, and only gotten to the Elite 8 once!

There’s also this quote, from Jeff Goodman at CBS Sports.

“The NCAA went back and looked at his schoolwork,” one source told CBSSports.com. “They are looking into the fact that he didn’t do some of the work.”

Yikes. Wonder if there’s an academic scandal brewing? [CBS Sports]
