Jeremy Shockey Wants to Come Back to the Giants, and Got into a Nasty Twitter War with Amani Toomer About it

Jeremy Shockey spent six seasons with the New York Giants, appearing in four Pro Bowls. He had a chance to go down in Giants history as one of the most beloved meathead jerks in franchise history, but instead he forced a trade in 2008. At the time, he screamed at General Manager Jerry Reese in front of teammates and vowed never to play in New York again. Now he wants to come back.

It’s the same franchise he asked out of. It’s the same GM he yelled at. So why does he want to come back? Is it because no other city in the NFL goes with his 9/11-inspired rock flag eagle tattoo? Whatever the reason, the Giants aren’t jumping at the opportunity to re-sign the 31-year-old tight end. Probably because he left like a total dick. Here’s how former teammate Amani Toomer reacted to the news that Shockey wanted to come back to New York.

@AmaniToomer: @garymyersNYDN No!!Shockey”I will never play4 you again!”he yelled at jerry Reese in 08. Let him keep his word. Bad teammate, worse person.

As of right now, it appears Shockey will not be welcomed back to New York. They just signed former Dallas TE Martellus Bennett and no one in the organization seems keen on the idea of bringing him back. Probably because he was such a dick. Speaking of that, here is Shockey’s Twitter response to Toomer.

@JeremyShockey: @DonaldLongo @amaniatoomer yes remember when his ex divorced him and he urinated on a her cloths I guess he’s the good person

Wow. Shots fired. In case you were wondering, Toomer denied peeing on his ex-wife’s clothes.
