Gus Johnson is no longer calling the NCAA tournament. His gift, harnessing more power in nonverbal exclamations than Othello, had no more natural outlet. It’s a fitting tribute, perhaps, that in his first day gone the “Law of Gus” would remain in effect and there would not be a single contentious ending. For those missing the enthusiasm, here are some of his best.
Gonzaga over Florida in 1999. “The Slipper Still Fits”
UCLA vs. Gonzaga in 2006
Xavier vs. Kansas State from 2010
Ohio State vs. Xavier from 2007. Ha HA!
Okay, so not the NCAA tournament, but still awesome…
