VCU looked to be rolling to yet another tournament victory, leading Indiana for almost the entire game. Victor Oladipo tied it on a hoop and the harm with 46 seconds left, after Bradford Burgess had missed both for VCU with a chance to extend the lead.

With 12 seconds left, Will Sheehey knocked down a baseline jumper, from a spot awfully close to Keith Smart territory, after Oladipo drove to the basket following a VCU miss, and the ball was knocked out.

That make set up the Rams for one final chance to tie or win. Darius Theus drove the lane, and Rob Brandenburg had a great look for the win. It wasn’t to be. Virginia Commonwealth’s amazing tournament comes to an end, just barely. Still a great performance by VCU, and Indiana goes on to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2002. Incidentally, they beat the #1 seed and defending National Champion Blue Devils that year and went on to the title game.
