Luke Loucks, the Florida State point guard who had a brilliant ACC tournament a week ago – he scored 10 points and handed out 13 assists in the win over North Carolina – made costly back-to-back mistakes for the Seminoles late Sunday night, and now their season is over.

A casual pass by Loucks in the backcourt (:28 in the video) was intercepted and led to a Cincinnati dunk, and the Bearcats grabbed a 52-50 lead they never relinquished. About :40 later, Loucks was trapped and instead of calling timeout (or having his coach or a teammate do so), he stepped through the thicket of defenders (:46 in the video), anticipating a foul. None was called. But Loucks was whistled for a travel.

Sure, the Bearcats turned the ball right back over – that’s what they do (10 by their starting guards) – but Florida State couldn’t capitalize, and the Bearcats advanced to the Sweet 16 to play Ohio State. [Orlando Sentinel; vid via Mike]
