From the Desk of the New York Mets: "The sky is not falling"

There’s some real beauty to the awareness in that line when you consider this is a franchise that for years, particularly over the last few, spent exhaustive hours in denial, outwardly pretending its image among fans and media alike wasn’t a screeching trainwreck.

But this letter, along with the refreshingly candid Twitter feed of humorous GM Sandy Alderson, are prime examples that the self-awareness of Mets ownership is suddenly blooming like vibrant hydrangeas tended to by the world’s most seasoned gardener. It’s a welcome change, although the idea that most improvements will “come from within” is about as inspiring as an Anthony Young meatball.
