Jayson Werth had an atrocious debut season with the Nationals last year after signing a mammoth seven year, $126 million deal. His OPS saw an obscene dip, going from .921 in 2010 with the Phils to a paltry .718. Werth is well aware of just how bad he was, but sounds optimistic, so perhaps a season unclouded by noxious air is on the horizon:
“I feel confident about this season and this team and where I’m at and what I’ve done. Last year is just one year. I got six more years on this contract, and I plan on playing after this contract. I’ll look back and 2011 will be a fart in the wind.”
Sounds nice, but Werth will be 33 in a month. Six more years? That contract gets uglier with each passing fart.
