Bob Knight, when not fielding calls, is enjoying a life of hunting, fishing, traveling, and golf. According to an interview in the South Bend Tribune, he’s also working on a book with Bob Hammel with the title “The Power of Negative Thinking”.
“I’ve always thought the things that we look upon negatively are extremely important,” Knight explained. “Like the word ‘no.’ I think the word ‘no’ is the most important word in the English language. I think people learning to say no keep themselves out of a lot more trouble than those that don’t.”
I’m guessing that there will be a whole chapter devoted to how ESPN continually refuses to tell Bob Knight “NO”, and contrasting that with being told no at a salad bar or “no more” by Miles Brand.
As best I can tell, the book will involve Bob Knight breaking down optimistic cliches and telling us why they suck. I may be misinterpreting things, though. I’m trying to think about it negatively, and I’m not sure why anyone would buy such a book.
