Shocker! This one’s been determined since December, when the Peyton-less Colts cruised to the worst record in football. And since Andrew Luck is the best QB in the draft (by far, I think) … boom. Anti-climactic. Kind of like expectations in year one (4-12 or 5-11 seems certain). Peyton Manning went 3-13 in his rookie year with the Colts … then got to 13-3 and was the cornerstone of the franchise for over a decade.
The only question here is – do you build up the Colts’ aging defense, or try and grab some offensive weapons later in the draft? I’d strong consider Clemson tight end Dwayne Allen at the top of the 2nd round. Luck had success with tight ends in college and will need a safety valve.
