Chandler Jones' Has a Brother Who is an NFL Defensive Lineman and One Who is a UFC Champion

Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones will likely be selected in the first round of the NFL draft tonight. Mike Mayock of the NFL Network loves him. I have no counter to that argument, but I can vouch for his pedigree.

When Jones is drafted, he will join his older brother Arthur Jones of the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL. Two people from the same house playing a professional sport is fairly rare. Throw in one of the most dominant mixed martial artists in history and you have a family the likes of which has never been seen.

The middle Jones son is Jon, the UFC’s light heavyweight champion. I know MMA is a fairly young sport, but I’m guessing we might have to wait another millennium to see one brother defend a UFC belt less than a week before another brother is drafted into the NFL.

The Jones brothers were “choir boys,” according their mother, but grew up kicking the shit out of each other. Vases were broken and their father padded the walls in the basement. Tonight they’ll gather at the home of the best 205-pound figher in the world and watch their third child become a professional athlete. ESPN, the NFL Network and UFC.com will all have cameras there. It’s good people will be documenting this because we’ll likely never see it again.
