Jabar Gaffney Released by the Redskins Less Than a Month After His Twitter Meltdown

Jabar Gaffney, hours later on April 12: I got hacked.

Jabar Gaffney, May 1: Released by the Redskins.

Did his release have anything to do with the twitter meltdown?

Gaffney was only slated to be a $2.65 million cap hit this season. But Washington did add Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan in the offseason. And in 2011, they drafted Leonard Hankerson from Miami (13 catches as a rookie). Santana Moss turns 33 this June and is coming off his worst season in years (granted, he had injuries). Gaffney, though, did lead Washington in receiving last year (68 catches, 947 yards, five touchdowns).

That’s a pretty shaky group of receivers. RG3 had two guys at Baylor last year – Kendall Wright and Terrance Williams – who were better than his quartet in Washington. Wright was a 1st round pick and when we publish our 2013 NFL mock draft in a moment, you’ll see Williams is a first round pick, too.

But as a dozen folks noted on twitter, at least Robert Griffin doesn’t have to pay to get No. 10.
