Caleb King Released by Vikings Three Days After Alleged Violent Birthday Party Assault

The months between the NFL draft and the preseason are boring for football fans – except for the arrests, of course. Caleb King of the Vikings was arrested over the weekend for allegedly beating a man to a pulp at 3 am after a birthday party. (King claims he was simply talking to the man and then he fell to the ground.)

According to police, the man who was beaten – requiring 50 stitches – kept comparing King to a celebrity at the party, and King didn’t like it. That celebrity? Eddie Murphy. By no means am I defending King here, but what prompts someone to joke around with a rocked up, 5-foot-11, 210-pound NFL running back? Also, based on this mug shot, I don’t really think King looks like Murphy.

Anyway, three days after the incident … the Vikings cut King.
