Weaker MLB Injury: Brian McCann Poked in Eye on Errant High-Five or Jeremy Affeldt Sprains MCL Colliding With 4-Year-Old?

It seems like baseball players will always and forever remain king of ridiculously embarrassing injuries. This past Saturday night, Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee when his 4-year-old son leaped off the couch and collided with him. Affeldt felt a pop in his knee, and that was that. He’s been placed on the 15-day DL.

Additionally, after hitting a grand slam in Atlanta last night, catcher Brian McCann was poked in the eye by Michael Bourn during an errant high-five in the feverish celebration. Of course he was. No official word yet on McCann’s “condition” yet.

Perhaps living in a bubble would put an end to many of these freak injuries.

Somewhere in Tampa, Joba Chamberlain offers up a wry smile while slowly nodding his head.
