NHL: Braden Holtby (Goalie/Washington Capitals) – The rookie goaltender is playing Dryden-esque as he continues to turn away thirty to forty shots per night. Whether the Caps win Game 7 or not, the young net minder has shown an incredible amount of composure for a 22-year old kid playing on hockey’s biggest stage. The Capitals young goalie has faced 179 shots and stopped 166 through 6 games for a save percentage of .927 against the top seeded Rangers. Regardless of how far they make it in their quest for the Stanley Cup, Washington has to feel great about its goaltending situation for years to come because of the recent play of Braden Holtby.
NBA: JaVale McGee (Center/Denver Nuggets) – The big man that the Nuggets acquired from the Wizards earlier in the season has come up huge in the playoffs as Denver continues to hang in their series against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. McGee went off in Game 3 (16 Points – 15 Rebounds – 4 Blocks) and again in Game 5 (21 Points – 14 Rebounds – 2 Blocks), both wins for the Nuggets. If he continues to play the way he has been, McGee could be highly sought after come the offseason.
MLB: Josh Hamilton (Outfielder/Texas Rangers) – Did you honestly think that it was going to be anyone else? The man went 5 for 5 with 4 homeruns (8 RBIs) and has hit a homerun in 5 of his last 6 at bats as he finished the previous game with another blast. He is currently hitting above .400 on the season and is on a torrid pace when it comes to HRs and RBIs as well. Be sure to tune in to the Rangers next game to see what the star outfielder does next.
