Ralph Vacchiano is reporting that New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks broke a bone in his foot at today’s organized team activities (OTA). The expected recovery time is 3 months, so Nicks should be back for the start of the regular season barring any setbacks or slow recovery, but will be limited in training camp and preseason and may not get much work in before the season begins now.
Nicks is one of just four receivers since the merger to have consecutive 1,000+ yard seasons at age 22 and 23, joining John Jefferson, David Boston, and Randy Moss. Jefferson demanded a trade a year later and went to Green Bay and flamed out, Boston ate and bulked himself out of the league, while Moss was straight cash for another decade.
