Temple Linebacker Charged with Rape; He Sent the Victim a Text Asking if She Was Going to Press Charges

Temple linebacker Martin Oguike has been charged with aggravated assault, forcible rape, sexual assault – among others things – following a dorm room incident on Memorial Day weekend with a 21-year-old student at the University. The details, from ABC-7, are gory:

She claims the football player tried to kiss her and she told him no. The 21-year-old says she then tried to leave and Martin-Oguike allegedly grabbed her by the throat and dragged her into his bedroom where he allegedly raped and assaulted her.

She further states that he then took her downstairs and signed her out of the dormitory as if nothing had happened.

The victim says that hours after leaving his dorm, Oguike, 18, texted her asking, “Are you gonna press charges?” (Further details can be found here.) She went to the police. Oguike, who played in seven games as a freshman, has been suspended from the Owls by the University. [ABC7]
