Three players from the MLS club Toronto FC – Miguel Aceval, Nick Soolsma and Luis Silva – were arrested after participating in a “drunken brawl” outside a Houston night club. The trio were in town ahead of the team’s match with the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday.
“There was a large disturbance outside, the club called,” a Houston Police spokesman told the Sun. “Our officers tried to disperse the fight at which time they refused to leave and then began to have verbal altercations with the officers.
“One of them ran and so the officer ran and the officer took him into custody.”
(Yes, a police officer caught a professional soccer player in a foot race.)This is the second band of MLS players arrested outside a Houston night club this year. Two Dynamo players were arrested outside a night club in February, after the club allegedly denied entry to black players.
Not the best news for Toronto FC, who are off to a 1-10-0 start. They are currently 27 points behind leaders D.C. United, though winning their five games in hand could vault them right back into the playoff race.
