Chris Berman and Trent Dilfer Will Be the Broadcast Team For Oakland-San Diego Monday Night Opener

I now picture Chris Berman pointing and uttering the phrase: “You’re with me, Dilfer.” ESPN announced today that long time sports anchor and host Chris Berman will make his NFL game broadcasting debut when he pairs with Trent Dilfer on the late game Monday Night opener. The matchup features Philip “Old Man” Rivers versus Carson “Heart of” Palmer and the Chargers versus the Raiders. For the last two seasons, Trent Dilfer was paired with play-by-play veteran Brad Nessler, and before that, the late Monday opener included Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic. The earlier game of the double header, between Cincinnati and Baltimore, will be called by the normal Monday Night team of Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden.

If nothing else, it should make for an interesting night of commentary as people stay up to critique Berman after a long opening weekend of football.
