[Pause for Applause.]

Tiger Woods has three wins in 2012, tops on the tour. Best I can tell, nobody won three last year, but seven golfers won two.

[Pause for Applause.]

Tiger Woods now has collected three wins on the Tour since his 2009 Thanksgiving night accident – the one where his wife allegedly caught him cheating on her and attacked the cad with a golf club; Tiger reportedly ended up in sex rehab – which is the same number of wins that media darling Phil Mickelson has in that time span! (One of Phil’s is the Masters, though.)

[Pause for lengthy Standing Applause.]

To recap: Tiger Woods is winning tournaments like he used to! (Well, sort of; he won six tournaments in 2009, seven in 2007, eight in 2006 and 1999, and nine in 2000. But we’re only six months into the year!)

[Pause for One Final Applause.]

Now for two other facts that are not clap-worthy*: Tiger Woods has not won a major in over four years. [Frowns, grumbling from the crowd.] Tiger Woods is 0-49 in majors in his career in which he has trailed after three rounds. [Mild cursing from pro-Tiger crowd.]

The Open Championship (British Open) runs from July 19th-July 22nd. Eldrick’s best finish on the course (Royal Lytham) is 25th in 2001. That means … who knows.

Bottom line: Tiger’s currently golfing better than he has the last three years. After that, it boils down to how much importance you place on majors. If Tiger wins five tournaments this year, but zero majors, what, if anything, does that mean?

*Hehehe.
