Canada's Simon Fraser University to Join NCAA as First Non-American School

The NCAA is going international. Canada’s Simon Fraser University, located in Vancouver, has been granted conditional approval (pending a vote from the NCAA’s executive committee) to become the first school outside the United States to be granted access. Compliance experts are already hard at work determining the type of cheese curds permitted to be served in a recruit’s poutine.

Simon Fraser University, or SFU as the Canadian kids call it, had been participating in the NAIA. They will play in 15 varsity sports in the Greater Northwest Athletic Conference. They should be a powerhouse when Malcolm Gladwell replaces football with Pipe Band.
