Grant Wahl is reporting that USA midfielder Michael Bradley has joined Serie A giants AS Roma (He was also spotted in training). The 24-year-old had an excellent season in Serie A for Chievo Verona and had multiple clubs interested. Roma, owned by American businessman Thomas DiBenedetto, had been considered the most likely destination. Bradley should be in the fold for Roma’s American tour when they play Zaglebie Lubin in Chicago and Liverpool in Fenway Park.
It is a more prestigious club destination for Bradley. Roma, home to Italian stars such as Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi, finished 6th in Serie A last season, but have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League in four of the past six seasons. The issue, of course, is whether he will play consistently enough there to maintain his form.
