Cal Ripken's Mother Abducted at Gunpoint, But is Now Safe With Her Family According to TV Report [UPDATE]

According to WUSA-9 in Washington DC, Cal Ripken’s mother was abducted at gunpoint from her home Tuesday morning, but she’s now back safe with her family. No other details are available, but we’ll update this post as police release information.

Ripken, perhaps the most famous player in Baltimore Orioles’ history, spent 21 seasons with the team. Ripken is best known for  breaking the MLB record for consecutive games played (2,632).

[UPDATE: According to WUSA9, 74-year-old Violet Ripken was approached by a man with a gun and forced her into her vehicle Tuesday morning. Late Tuesday afternoon, police got a call about a suspicious vehicle; Wednesday morning, police found Violet Ripken unharmed in her car. Her abductor remains at-large.]
