Erin Andrews left ESPN for Fox Sports in early July, and one of her new duties will be hosting a pre-game college football show. (She did host a show on ESPNU at 9 am on Saturdays; Samantha Steele is the show’s new host.) Today, Fox finally released the names of two former athletes who will be joining her on the show: Joey Harrington (of Oregon fame) and Eddie George (legendary OSU Buckeye).
The show won’t go up against ESPN’s wildly popular College Gameday (10 am), but rather air at 7:30 pm before Fox’s weekly Saturday Night game. Andrews, talking to USA Today, took a subtle jab at her likely opposition at that hour – ESPN’s Mark May and Lou Holtz, who sometimes have a highlight show at that time:
“we’ll have a young, fresh, hip take. … And the one thing we’re excited about with this show is that a lot of football has been played by the time we get on-air. We’ll get everybody up to speed.”
Later in the season, when Fox adds afternoon games, the pregame show will be airing in the middle of the afternoon. [USA Today]
