Carlos Gomez Mistakes Foul Ball For Home Run, Circles the Bases, Then Strikes Out

Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez slugged an offering from Philadelphia’s Vance Worley on Wednesday night that went down the left field line and ended up going foul. To the presumptuous Gomez, it was deemed a home run. Amazingly, the spacy fella failed to realize it was a foul ball until after rounding third base. Had he spent more time admiring his work, he probably would have known it wasn’t a dinger. One of those rare moments where not behaving like an arrogant dick comes back to haunt you.
Upon resuming his at-bat, Gomez struck out looking. Once a Mets prospect, always a Mets prospect. [via MLB.com]
