Guess who broke the news of rumors of a sale this morning, that then forced Lerner to issue a vague statement about Jimmy Haslam pursuing an investment in the team. It was ESPN 850, Grossi’s current employer. Team President Mike Holmgren has now confirmed that Lerner is giving up his interest in the team. That news developed fast. Grossi also said on ESPN radio that he thinks this will be the last year with Mike Holmgren as President of the Browns. Howard Eskin was the first to report that he was hearing rumors that former Eagles President Joe Banner is among the group involved with the purchase.

Which means that just a few months later, Tony Grossi will still be in Cleveland, while everyone in the Browns front office that took offense to his misplaced tweet against an ownership group that has won 35% of its games is gone.
