London 2012: Michael Phelps Barely Qualified For the 400 IM Final

Michael Phelps came perilously close to missing the medal round in the 400M IM this morning. He finished six seconds off his qualifying time in the preliminary swim and advanced in the eighth and final place. This should precipitate an epic First Take debate about whether Phelps, a 14-time Olympic Gold Medalist, wants it badly enough. Ryan Lochte finished third. Kosuke Hagino, a 17-year-old Japanese swimmer, finished first.
