Denver Post's John Henderson Accidentally Tweeted a "Horny" Direct Message About the Olympics Meant For a Reader

John Henderson is a writer for the Denver Post who, like everyone else, is currently covering the Olympics. On Sunday morning, a few hours after tweeting out a link to an article on 16-year-old swimmer Ye Shiwen, Henderson tweeted, “That was fun. First time I’ve gotten horny covering the Olympics. Thank you!”

This tweet worried people and it quickly became message board fodder. Denver Westword wrote about a post about the Tweet Monday morning and reached out to Henderson. Amazingly, Henderson responded. Via Denver Westword:

“I was having an innocent direct Twitter conversation with a reader before the Opening Ceremonies and she just said a couple things that got me excited,” he writes via e-mail. “Somehow, some way, I sent a response to my general Twitter account and not to her directly.”

“Her comments made me horny. Not any athlete,” he stresses, adding, “Good Lord, that came on the heels of a blog about a 16-year-old girl? I really hope nobody made that connection.”

The experience has taught Henderson a lesson. In his words, “I’m new at Twitter and that’s the LAST time I’m holding a Twitter conversation with someone I’ve never met.”

Wow. I have a ton of respect for Henderson for admitting what really happened. He could have said his account was hacked or someone stole his phone or even claimed he was making an awful Austin Powers reference. As far as I’m concerned, he should be allowed to move on and forget about this unfortunate incident. Though I am kind of curious as to the  sort of perversity it takes to get a man with “DP” in his Twitter handle horny.
