Serena Williams provided a talking point at the Olympics this weekend with her crip walk after winning the gold in tennis. [Enter this Dave Chappelle newsman voice] Should she have done it? Was it wrong? What message did it send? As the media grappled with how to handle the nontroversy – who is capable of commenting on such a challenging cultural topic? – it is probably worth noting Brent Barry crip-walked way back in 2003 on All-Star weekend during the 3-point shootout. My recollection is that nobody referenced it in any capacity.
