Like the last final, this was a fierce battle. The officials let some physical U.S. play slide. Japan held nearly 60 percent of possession and created their fair share of chances. Fortunately, Hope Solo had her imperious form today.

Brandi Chastain rattled through pretty much the entire U.S. team giving out praise except Solo, who was probably woman of the match. A lot of reports that “Pearl Harbor” is trending.
