But nobody in the Tampa Bay area seems to care. The Rays, 68-55, are last in MLB in home attendance, averaging a paltry 20,238 fans per game. The putrid Houston Astros, currently struggling through one of the worst baseball seasons in the last decade, have just 39 wins but average nearly 1,000 more fans per game than Tampa.

Earlier this season, bumbling commish Bud Selig ripped the Rays’ attendance woes, calling them “inexcusable.”

Over/under on fans who show up for today’s 1 pm tilt against the Royals? How does 8,000 sound? If school has started in Florida, it might be lower.

Only 10,877 showed up for Tuesday night’s game.
