Jose Bautista: Season-Ending Wrist Surgery

Jose Bautista, the out-of-nowhere slugger who was a non-factor for the first five years of his career, then exploded in 2010 and hit 54 homers, will need surgery on his left wrist, and his season is over, the Blue Jays just announced.

Bautista hit 43 homers last year but struggled this year with injuries and his final numbers are back closer to where they were pre-2010 – .241 average, just 27 homers, OPS down to .886.

If you have Bautista in fantasy baseball, I’m sorry. Toronto is 57-70 and will once again miss the postseason.
