Serie A side Napoli revealed it bans its players from sexual activity in the 48 hours leading up to matches. It is not the usual hogwash about ejaculation depleting the masculine essence. The abstinence purportedly prevents muscle problems.
Here’s the Team Doctor:
“Avoiding sexual activity for two days before a game is fundamental to prevent muscular strains, contractions or inflammations,” Professor Alfonso De Nicola told Corriere del Mezzogiorno.
“It is the rule for our squad. There is also a specific work done by my staff and the fitness coaches which is aimed more at prevention than cure.
Napoli would point out it had 50 matches lost due to injury last season, while some clubs, such as AC Milan, had far more. Critics would point out that probably had more to do with Milan players being old farts than sex fiends. Well…besides Kevin Prince Boateng.
