Julius Randle, the high school basketball prospect last seem getting abused by future No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins, is coveted by every college basketball coach in the country. Kentucky coach John Calipari visited Randle recently and to impress the 17-year-old, showed him the Wildcats’ 2012 Championship ring.
Then Roy Williams showed up the next day and, hearing Randle was impressed by bling, arrived with a case of 30 rings, according to USA Today High School Sports:
Williams opened a case of 30 rings — everything from conference titles to Final Four berths to national titles — that he’d collected over the years. “When coach Williams opened the case you almost couldn’t look directly in it for fear of going blind,” Randle joked. “It was crazy.”
Then, Williams closed the visit like a champ: He whipped out Michael Jordan’s 1992 NBA Championship ring. Note to Scott Drew, who doesn’t have the rings: Show up with grills. That’ll impress Randle. [USA Today High School Sports]
