Billy Gillispie and Texas Tech Have Parted Ways

"“Billy has decided to focus on his health and we wish him a full recovery,” athletic director Kirby Hocutt said in a released statement. “We are proud of the young men that he has brought to this campus. Billy’s decision allows him to concentrate on his well-being and allows us to turn our attention to preparations for the upcoming season.”"

This should come as a surprise to nobody. Gillispie, who previously flamed out at Kentucky, was a disaster at Texas Tech, and over the summer, multiple reports surfaced of player mistreatment in Lubbock. Rather than deal with it, Gillispie went to the hospital for stress, and then wound up in the Mayo Clinic.
