Saturday Night Football: Michigan vs. Notre Dame, Florida State vs. Clemson

One night. Four matchups featuring ranked opponents. We previewed three of the games in our weekly preview on Friday. Notre Dame vs. Michigan received its own treatment this morning.

Michigan vs Notre Dame. Interesting piece on Roy Roundtree’s battle with a learning disability. Michigan fans snuck this banner into Notre Dame Stadium. Notre Dame merchandise sales doubled after last week’s Michigan State win. A lot of fair-weather Irish fans. Don’t forget to cheer! Michigan expects this rivalry to continue, despite Notre Dame’s scheduling limitations.

Florida State vs. Clemson: Doak Campbell is sold out for this game. It is a must win, if Florida State intends to be Florida State. If you missed it earlier this week, FSU recruit Richie Klepal, a four-star offensive tackle, was forced to quit football, after a fifth concussion showed signs of a brain hemorrhage. Florida State will honor his scholarship. A police officer was fired after posting about pulling over Dabo Swinney on a message board. That ne’er do well was doing 63 in a 35.

Oklahoma vs. Kansas State: The Big 12 has five of the top seven rated passers. Neither are playing in this game. Bob Stoops would like Oklahoma fans to put in a bettor effort. Oklahoma fans might ask the same of him. A Sooners recruit was injured in a drive-by shooting. Kansas State is hoping to be better prepared for the Bell-dozer. Doing a better job against Landry Jones would also be helpful.

Oregon vs. Arizona: Pac 12 coaches are still fussing about reporting injuries. Rich Rodriguez is off to a great start at Arizona. Here is where we find out how great. De’Anthony Thomas is among the Heisman front-runners. Imagine what will happen when Oregon starts giving him the ball.
