You could say that last night’s Seattle Seahawks – Green Bay Packers Monday Night Football game had a controversial ending. Football games don’t always come down to the final play and when they do, they rarely end in such ridiculous fashion. Let’s take a look around the country at how local newspapers handled the outcome of last night’s game.
The New York Post went with a clean and simple “DISGRACE!” If ever a newspaper was going to use a gif on the cover, I figured it would have been the Post today. The New York Daily News wins the headline battle by getting in the Seattle Screw pun. Solid headlining.
The Seattle Times went with “Hawks Steal One” while Tacoma, Washington’s News Tribune just decided to flat out thank the referees for the win. Personally, I want to know more about that pumpkin.
The Post-Crescent from Appleton, Wisconsin and the Oshkosh Northwestern both went with jump ball images and referenced the theft of a Packers’ victory. Personally, I would have went with “Oshkosh, Oh My Gosh: Packers Losh!”
The Marshfield News-Herald and three other Wisconsin papers went with that banner image and “OUTRAGE.” Whoever edits the Sheboygan Press obviously went to bed early. Wouldn’t you if you had a story about leaves changing colors to go above the fold?
