Oakland Rallies With Three in the Ninth, Forces Game Five

Oakland’s magical season wasn’t ready to come to an end, and Billy Beane’s shit works in Game 4 of the postseason. The Athletics trailed 3-1 entering the bottom of the ninth when Jose Valverde, one of the most hittable and overrated closers in the game, took the mound. A single and double were followed by a gap double by Seth Smith which tied the game.

Two batters later, it was Coco Crisp–who had robbed Prince Fielder of a home run in Game 3–who came up with the decisive two out seeing eye single through the right side that sent it to Game 5, and the Oakland crowd into a pandemonium.
