Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Randall Cobb and Josh Gordon on the Rise

Ray Rice and Arian Foster are both on a break this week, so the running back rankings are wide open. The projection for my top 11 running backs are all pretty close, with Jamaal Charles at the top. Alex Green hasn’t had any touchdowns yet, but based on the matchup this week at home against Jacksonville, should be in most lineups for one more shot. Jonathan Stewart is supposed to get more emphasis this week, though the matchup against the Bears might delay any surge just yet.

At quarterback, the stars dominate the top. Big Ben moves into my top 4 based on the very favorable matchup, while Andrew Luck gets a matchup that can lead to better results after playing a tough schedule to date. Carson Palmer is your start among the other quarterbacks, checking in with a much more favorable matchup than guys like Vick, Stafford, Romo or Newton. Cam Newton draws Chicago this week, so if you have another option you should look there. The Bears have been death on QB’s so far.

The other thing that could be death on quarterbacks is high winds, usually above 15 MPH becomes problematic. So far, with storms coming through, the following venues have winds projected above 15 MPH: San Diego at Cleveland, Miami at NY Jets.

At wide receiver and tight end, Randall Cobb and Josh Gordon continue to climb, with Cobb checking into my top ten against the Jaguars as he grabs the role that used to belong to Greg Jennings. Josh Gordon has a decent matchup and continues to produce. Deeper down the list, look to Kendall Wright, Jeremy Kerley, Stephen Hill and Chris Givens as matchup starts for flex spots. The tight end position is mostly chalk. Jimmy Graham is expected back, and Rob Gronkowski should play and get action with Aaron Hernandez out. Desperation mode should have you looking at Brandon Myers, Anthony Fasano, Logan Paulsen (who should get Fred Davis’ targets this week), and Coby Fleener.
