The Washington Redskins announced last night that Kirk Cousins would start today’s game in place of Robert Griffin III. Griffin had practiced this week, but was still ruled out as a result of the sprain occurring on this play. It turns out that Pierre Garcon was right, even though the Redskins tried to leave it in doubt as long as possible. Albert Breer of NFL Network has confirmed this morning that Griffin will not dress and will not even be an option to come off the bench if necessary.

Washington is in the middle of a race for the NFC East or a wildcard spot, where three wins likely puts them in the postseason. Many questions today, but among them is how much Washington will have to change the offensive playcalling for Cousins, to de-emphasize the quarterback runs, and then how that impacts the running lanes for rookie Alfred Morris.
